Aline Trejo joined the Marine Genomics Lab in Fall 2017. Her research involves using next generation sequencing technology to assess population structure of the king snake eel, Ophichthus rex, in the Gulf of Mexico.

 

Trejo earned her B.S. in Biology, with a concentration in Marine Biology from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi in 2016. Trejo was an undergraduate research assistant for the Hogan Fish Conservation Lab where she worked on a project investigating the effects invasive lionfish, Pterois volitans, on the genetic diversity of local reef fish. She also used otolith microchemistry to determine mangrove nurseries usage by juvenile lionfish.
